Footed Conical PET Bottle Introduced By Novapak

Novapak's 8 and 16 oz. Footed Conical PET container for personal care, household and automotive products, is produced in a two-stage process said to lower the tooling cost of low and medium volume runs while also maintaining the competitive nature of the unit costs.

EATONTOWN, NJ — A new "Footed Conical" PET container in 8 oz. and 16 oz. sizes has been introduced by Novapak Corporation, Eatontown, NJ, it was announced by Kenneth Stufko, vice president of sales.

According to the company, the container is designed for use with caps, pumps or sprayers, making it suitable for a variety of personal care, household and automotive products.

It is stretch blow molded of PET resin said to exhibit a combination of impact resistance, stiffness and clarity not easily offered by containers extrusion blow molded of PVC, PP or HDPE.

A two-stage injection-stretch process separates injection molding of universal performs from blow molding of finished containers, eliminating the set-up time and tooling costs associated with concurrent molding and blowing of dedicated performs in single stage processes. According to Stufko, the savings allows PET containers to be produced economically in smaller runs, allowing marketers to take advantage of PET's attributes while differentiating low and medium volume products.

The smaller size of universal performs is also said to increase blow ratios, orientation of PET molecules and strength of the blown container.

The 8 oz. conical container is 7.106 inches tall, weighs 25 grams and is available in 24/415 and 24/410 neck sizes. The 16 oz. container is 8.215 inches tall, weighs 36 grams and is available in 28/410 and 28/415 neck sizes.
